Aspire Hub wanted to create a more engaging way for young people to explore their annual NDIS expo — something that would spark curiosity, encourage interaction, and leave participants with something meaningful to take home.

Orange Digital developed the Adventure Passport, an interactive experience designed to transform a standard expo visit into a journey of discovery. Through thoughtful design, character-led storytelling, and an inclusive approach, we created a tool that makes the event more memorable, accessible, and impactful.

From passive attendance to active engagement

Traditional expos can feel overwhelming, especially for younger participants or those with diverse communication and cognitive needs. Many visitors simply move from stall to stall without meaningful interaction, while providers struggle to capture attention or start conversations.
Our challenge was to design a solution that would guide participants through the expo in a way that felt fun, inclusive, and rewarding — encouraging them to explore, engage, and connect on their own terms.

At the heart of the solution was the Adventure Passport — a physical booklet given to participants as they entered the expo. It transformed the day into an adventure, turning each provider visit into a “stamp stop” and each page into an opportunity to learn, reflect, and interact.

Participants could write, draw, react with emojis, or simply collect stamps, making the experience accessible for a wide range of ages, communication styles, and abilities. It wasn’t just a keepsake — it was a guided journey that helped them make sense of the event as they moved through it.

We created a unique visual identity for the activity: bright, friendly, and approachable without being childish. The passport experience extended beyond the pages themselves. We designed an entire ecosystem of materials to support the activity and ensure consistency across the event.

Two illustrated guides — Scout and Sunny — became the faces of the adventure, providing a sense of familiarity and warmth for younger participants while remaining engaging for older teens.
Every design decision, from colour palette to language, was made with inclusivity in mind, ensuring the passport was intuitive and welcoming to all.

  • Entrance posters introduced the concept and guided participants on how to get started.
  • Stall signage provided clear visual cues for where to stop, explore, and collect stamps.
  • Provider pages gave space for service information, feedback, and reflection.
  • Activity pages added playful moments to the journey, turning downtime into opportunities for creativity and connection.

The Adventure Passport redefined how young participants interacted with the Aspire Hub expo. It transformed passive browsing into active engagement, sparked conversations between attendees and providers, and gave families something tangible to reflect on after the event.
By combining strategic experience design with playful storytelling and inclusive communication, Orange Digital helped Aspire Hub create more than an event — we built a journey worth remembering.
